Dharmasthala Temple

Dharmastala represents religious tolerance. A Jain Tirthankara is worshipped beside Daivas and Lord Manjunatha. The priests in Dharmasthala Temple are Vaishnavite Brahmins and the protector of the temple a Heggade. Dharmasthala Temple which houses the shrine of Shiva,Manjunatha, Ammanavaru, Chandranath and the Dharma Daivas namely Kalarahu, Kalarkayi, Kumaraswamy and Kanyakumari. The temple is curious in that it is run by a Jain administration and poojas are conducted by Hindu priests of Madhva order. Lakshadeepa- the festival of lights is the annual festival of Dharmasthala comes off in November–December. On an average the flow of pilgrims is about 10,000 people a day. A mechanized kitchen provides free food for all pilgrims and there are guest houses with contemporary amenities.

Kukke Subramanya

Kukke Subramanya is a Hindu temple situated in the village of Subramanya in the Sullia taluk of Dakshina Kannada.

The temple is one of the pristine pilgrimage locations in India. Here Lord Subrahmanya is worshipped as the lord of all serpents. The epics relate that the divine serpent Vasuki and other serpents found refuge under Lord Subrahmanya when threatened by Garuda. Pilgrims going to the temple have to cross the Kumaradhara River and take a holy dip in the river before entering the temple for their darshan holy viewing of the Lord. Ashlesha Bali Pooja & Sarpa Samskara are two important Sarpa Dosha Poojas are done at Kukke Subramanya Temple.

St Aloysius Chapel

St Aloysius Chapel is one of the most important places of attraction in the city of Mangaluru. The chapel is situated at the center region of the city on a hill famous in the region as the lighthouse hill. The place is easily communicable. The artistic beauty of this chapel is often compared with the likes of the Sistine Chapel of Rome.The The Italian Jesuits played a significant role in education, health, and social wellbeing of the Mangalorean Catholic community and built the St. Aloysius College in 1880, St Aloysius Chapel in 1884 and many other institutions and churches.

The St. Aloysius Chapel in Mangaluru was built to pay homage to the famed personality of Aloysius Gonzaga. This person is well known for having devoted his life for some momentous social work. The paintings that are hung in the middle row on the ceiling portray different situations associated to the life of Gonzag. Some other vital paintings are related with the Apostles, the Church saints, Jesuit saints and life of Jesus. There is a painting in the St. Aloysius Chapel that depicts Jesus befriending the children. It is one of the most renowned paintings by Moscheni. The paintings of this chapel are preserved by a recognized board of the nation which maintains and restores all historic relics.

Tannirbavi

Panambur beach

Panambur beach is the place of New Mangaluru Port. It is sited in Dakshina Kannada north of the Gurupura river. The name Panambur is derived from ‘Panam’ which means Money and the word ‘Ur’ means place or village in Tulu language.

It was inaugurated in 1974 by the Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The port situated in Panambur is called New Mangaluru Port, as there is an old harbour or port located in Mangaluru city which is called by Mangaluru bunder or Hale bunder. Old port is now being used for fishing and for shipping small goods.

There is a Nandaneshwara temple in Panambur. There is a beautiful beach on the shoreline of the Arabian Sea at Tanniru Bhavi resided to the south of sea port at Panambur.

New Mangaluru Port Trust runs the deep-water, all-weather port at Panambur. It is the only chief port of Karnataka and is at present the ninth largest port in India.

Panambur beach offers Jet ski rides, camel rides for kids, boating, Dolphin viewing, Food stall, ice-cream, skilled Beach Life-guards for safety.
